We've had this cooker for about 10 years - it's a Smeg free standing mini range type thing, 60cm wide, the usual- two ovens which are electric and a gas hob on top.

It works fine however the last few days it's emitting a repulsive electrical/chemical/plasticky burning type smell.

I'm using the top oven as it gets less hot I think and the smell isn't so bad, but just a bit worried in case it means something is broken as I really don't want to set the kitchen alight.

The switch on the wall appears fine, no smell there, no smell inside the oven itself - though I did use a cream cleaner to clean a tray that lives in there, a while ago, and it smells a bit like that but not actually in the oven - only at the vent at the back.

No idea what to do.
