Someone said that soda crystals harm you washed, what a lie,if you've got a smelly washer give it a long hot wash with maybe some white t towels in the drum, add a cup of washing soda and 2 cups of white vinegar, when the washer does a spin the towels will hold on to the soda and vinegar and distribute it with force whilst spinning (,this does not happen with an empty washer,) your towels will come out all nice and soft and white than you've ever seen them and your washer will have had a power wash inside, done every 2 weeks the smelly washer is no more, don't use fabric conditioned ,put a cup full of white vinegar in at the start of every wash and that will softer your clothes better than any conditioner, and keep the smells and lime scale at bay too.

washing soda crystals are alkaline, and vinegar is acid, so they will neutralise each other if mixed.

You can use them separately, though.
