Is it normal to feel so nervous about taking the plunge?

We are putting our house up for sale after years of talking about it and then talking ourselves back out of it! We have found a house that we like tha has bags of potential i.e. nice area but needs lots of work.

I know it makes sense to move now when we are in our mid 30s as we don't intend to stay in our current house forever and can get a 25yr mortgage but I am so worried about making a big mistake!

Is this just plain old nerves that I need to ignore? We are taking on a LOT of work and borrowing a LOT of money to do this move but we think the finished house will be not only a great investment but a home that we really love. I'm so afraid of committing to a huge mortgage and I'm really worried we will regret selling up when we've finally got our existing house how we like it!! Does everyone feel like this when they move?

Is this just pre-move jitters?! We've been told our house will sell quickly... Part of me is exciting at moving on and a new project but this has been our home for 11 years and the only house our kids have ever known!

We have done exactly what you describe. We lived in our first home for 9 years, we got married and had DS there. But we have now moved. We do not regret it at all. But right up until the move we kept going around in circles, terrified the sale would fall through, doubting if we actually wanted it to go ahead, terrified it would fall through and so on! DS (5) says he misses our old house every now and then, but we genuinely don't (although we do have a picture of our old house on our fridge).

Thanks Snoopadoop. So glad to hear you didn't regret your move. I hope I won't.

I just feel a bit overwhelmed I think. Things can move so quickly. Agent says that houses around us are selling in days!
