Help me find a tray!

I have a Russell Hobbs toaster, dimensions on top roughly 30x16cm.

I am constantly fighting a battle to keep my worktop crumb free and find myself emptying it all the time.

I want a tray to keep it on so I can unplug, carry it straight into the garden and shake it out there. The small trays sold on eBay as 'scatter trays' or 'sandwich trays' are too small. Most of the rest look too big. Where can I buy a tray about the right size for a toaster to sit on?

No idea but watching with interest as I have been after exactly the same thing for ages!

Glad I'm not the only one! My parents had a slimline toaster in the 80s and had a long thin tray for exactly this purpose and it worked a treat.

The bit of worktop we have also has to fit in bread bin, bread board and radio, so the toaster we have fits exactly into the space and a different size one would just look odd there. I could save a bit of space by getting a smaller bread bin but the one we have is big enough to stick in pitta breads and other random bits and bobs which is useful....so I don't want to get rid of it!

How 'roughly' are your measurements?!

I think that one would be too narrow. The toaster underside is smaller - it has a base with 4 little legs - but the 'scatter tray' I bought from eBay to put it on was 21x14cm and that was too narrow to take the legs.

Do you have a branch of Tiger near you? Their ranges keep changing but they often have trays in various sizes.

This one is A4 size- would that do it?

Or the small is 28x18 which might do it if your 21x14 was only just too small?

Ooh yes the snack tray size might be ok. The wooden ones look a bit too chunky, although 'high sides for crumb retention', I like the thinking! It would take up a bit too much space though, I think.

I've always kept toasters on trays. I exchange them from time to time for a clean. Is good if they're a bit bigger than the toaster to catch bits that fall when lifting the toast out!

TheHappiness I have a medium sized tray which would be perfect for the job if I had enough counter space to devote to it - but I don't!

be careful not to rattle the cage when you turn it upside down - if the cage stays next to the heating element after being shook it could give you a really nasty shock next time it's used

I found a tray! Not online, in my local homewares store which I popped into for something else. It's about 23 cm wide so turns out I needed something much wider than the toaster base for it to sit on (it also has shallow curving sides rather than steep sides). Hopefully my counters will be crumbless from now on!
