How do they all do it? My mummy mates all have immaculately clean and tidy houses whereas I have rooms that I have to close doors on when people come to visit and dread people dropping in.....

any tips for keeping up with all the housework and not getting obsessive????? My main problem is where to put Stuff which leads to untidyness which is then trashed by kids and so on and so forth.......h-e-l-p

Why don't you join the Fly threads. If you post on there we'll explain just what flying is all about. It's certainly helping me get my act together.

join fly lady and buy a timer. good luck if i am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel of clutter so can you.

IvortheEngine · 23/11/2006 23:23

Yes, join us on the daily FLY threads. They are to be found on this topic (i.e. Good Housekeeping) and usually read something like Thursday FLY - clean your front porch* or just Thursday FLY thread*

I still have to shut the doors on the living room and dining room but then I am coming from a long way back in the housekeeping stakes due to a long term illness. I can see light faintly shining from the end of the tunnel.

No one puts anything away in this house, spent all day clearing up yesterday and its still a tip.

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 24/11/2006 17:46

Shelves and cupboards is the way forward. Get a man in (beg, borrow or steal if yours is no use ).

I started with the FLY thing. It's good to get you going and motivated, but I'm starting to get a bit pissed off with lace up shoes LOL.

redheadmum · 27/11/2006 14:00

well, I'm taking it with a pinch of salt. I figure I need to get into good routines eg night clear up etc and de-clutter. Hope the FLY will push me into it....

never ever clean during the day.... thats my biggest tip

i do all the downstairs cleaning at night after dd goes down as if i try during the day she just folloes me creating more mess where i've just cleaned. had to abandon the Fly threads because it was endangering my sanity. i still keep up some of the routines but i do the actaul cleaning in the evenings now.

redheadmum · 27/11/2006 15:52

I just can't fit it in if I don't do something in the day....I work from home so I c an keep flexilbe hours round the kids, but it means I have to fit this is around their routines and run the house. I'm an artist too and am trying to find some time to paint.....AARRGGHH

(roll on school....'cept I'll miss em of course )
