Is it terribly wrong to hoover the worktops?

I'm new to having a proper nice kitchen, and it's taking me by surprise the amount of things I can do to keep it looking lovely, and I'm quite enjoying it - but it is wrong of me to use the hoover on the worktops?

It seems very quick and easy when I'm doing the floor anyway. But it occurs to me it could be a bit of a faux pas.

I do it too, not sure if it is non-u but it seems efficient.

I don't like the thought of the Hoover end that has been all over the floor on my surfaces, but I suppose as long as you clean the surfaces properly afterwards then ok?

I use my mini Dyson for worktops

I use the crevice tool for surfaces in all rooms

m0therofdragons, snap, I do that too, especially around the toaster where the crumbs build up. I use my mini Dyson to dust with too, I've even hovered out the bottom of the oven (before cleaning it) with the Dyson.

Thank you, yes, just for crumbs/cereal and so on esp if it's built up over a week while I've been too busy to clean every day.

Then wiping over with damp cloth/kitchem towel - the hoover end hasn't been anywhere awful but I did wonder if it was a bit unhygienic.

I'm just using the bare plastic end, not a brush etc.

I wish I had space for a tiny mini hoover but it would just be one more thing to store!

I have hoovered the top of the cooker as well, (gas - it's quite a deep sort of basin under the pot stands) it's a lot easier than trying to brush all the crumbs out.

Oh yes there was a thread a while back about how often do you bleach your sink.

I never use bleach on my sink.

Is that wrong? I found it a bit disturbing that so many people did tbh.

hoovering up crumbs is fine, sensible and anything that reduces the amount of time and effort into housekeeping is to be applauded.

Do wipe over with disinfectant/cleaner afterwards though :)

Oooh, I'm going to have to try that : ) I dust other surfaces with the hoover but I've never done the worktops that way.

haha - thanks for the laugh MadauntofA - after reading your comment I had visions of Susan clambering up onto worktops in a pinny pushing upright hoover up and down kitchen surfaces (I'm severely sleep deprived at moment and my SOH gone haywire). I love my Dyson attachments - specially the big round 'hairy' tool - brilliant for everything not floor related. As to Flash with Bleach.....there is a god and it's female!! Cooker, sinks, bathrooms, toilets - they come up beautifully with minimum effort - godsend to full-time working mum with hands-off DH and very much hands-on everything 9 month old DS.......

Ohh...I know, I use the stuff with bleach in it for cleaning when someone is ill or whatever, but honestly, it's no better than soapy water for most stuff and I feel so sorry for the fish

I think bleach is one of the nastiest things there is available to ordinary people. I wish people would cut down on it.

I find it a bit grim but I have a cat with a litter tray so the cervix tool sometimes gets used for stray cat litter granules in the floor.
I clean the kitchen then vacuum.

Cervix tool - I love it - I shall refer to that attachment as that in future.

I do it! I 'dust' all furniture, including dining table and sideboard and go over the worktops in the kitchen with a little brush attachment on my Henry I'm actually relieved to find I'm not the only one.

I also hoover the skirting boards instead of doing them separately. I don't understand people who do this!
