Burnt pan bases

I've got 2 blackened pans caused by the gas jet being too high. Not the inside of the pans but the outside. Any ideas how to clean them would be much appreciated.

Metal scourers would be my starting point.

Stainless steel, I've tried a metal scourer.

Astonish paste has recently done the business getting a load of blackened stuff off my grill pan, where Brillo pads and all other efforts had failed. Got mine from Lakeland but daresay other suppliers are available Grin

Right I'll have a look out for that Jam, thank you.

It's only about two pounds, and I was properly impressed with it. Hope it works if you try it!

White vinegar and baking soda soak overnight.

No natural gas here, was using a mains cooker with bottled gas, but now got the appropiate cooker, shouldn't happen again.

I saw on a cleaning programme with Kim & Aggie years ago that they rubbed them with meat tenderiser & a cloth. I'm in Australia so I can't get it here so I assume it can be bought in the supermarket in the UK. Apparently it breaks down the marks.
