Tassimo or nespresso machine

Just that really. I am thinking about buying a coffee machine and wondered which was better in terms of price of pods, quality of coffee, range of drinks. TIA

I think it would be worth you trying some of the drinks and seeing what you think.

Nespresso pods just make coffee of varying strengths and flavours depending on the variety. You can add milk if you like - some of the machines dispense hot, frothed milk.

The Tassimo drinks offer a huge range and a lot of them are complete drinks - so you can buy Caramel Latte pods, for example, and a lot of the Tassimo stuff is branded - such as Twinings tea.

It's down to personal preference. Nespresso compatible pods are now widely available.

tassimo machine is cheaper to buy which is why I got one but the pods are not as common in the shops. I do like nespresso but don't know what their lattes etc. are like I have only tried their espresso.

It is an expensive way to drink coffee and limits you to using only one type of pod.

Could you not invest in a good coffee percolator?

Dp swears by Nespresso. So much that he upgraded to a £300 Kitchenaid version.

He says the coffee is better. I have a Tassimo for tea and hot choc for the Toad. DP says that the coffee from a Tassimo tastes quite artifical and 'plasticky' (his words).

The current Nespresso range has 15 or so different varieties but as someone previous has said, there are compatible capsules available. Nespresso pods usually work out as about 30p a capsule.

I guess it all depends on preference. I wouldn't know as I am a stereotypical English Tea Drinker!!

We have a tassimo but I only make Costa Americano with it.
Pods from Tesvo ir Waitrose....they're £3 for 16 in Waitrose ATM.

Not Nespresso, it's made by Nestle.

AEG a modo mio takes Lavazza pods which you can buy in most supermarkets and makes really nice coffee, and you steam/froth your own milk at the side of the machine.

Or an Italian stove top coffee maker, they make really nice coffee.

I have a Tassimo at home and at work

love it. The lattes and Americanos are gorgeous and I have a selection of hot chocolates. Most supermarket sell the basic range (including the Costa ones) & the online store often has free P&P

Hmm, I am now favouring the Tassimo. I have seen more Nespresso compatible pods in supermarkets, so was wondering if Nespresso would be VHS to Tassimo's Betamax (incomprehensible analogy to anyone under the age of 40), but I like the idea of making hot chocolate as well.
We have a filter machine, cafetière and a stove top percolater for different coffee moods, but want something for DH to have at work.

Can you get Tassimo compatible pods made by others?

I have a Tassimo and also use it only with the Costa Americano pods which are excellent (and reliable - I got sick of my hit and miss coffee making with other coffee making apparatus!). Can't stand UHT milk so I avoid the drinks that come with milk pods, although other members of the family occasionally use them. I thought it would be one of those gadgets that ended up at the back of a cupboard (hence limiting the risk by buying a second hand one) but I use it every day. I buy the pods in bulk from Amazon.

AFAIK only Tassimo do Tassimo pods. They seem to have cornered the market in getting the brands on board. I have Cadbury suchard and milka hot chocs

Love my tassimo. I don't drink coffee and they have a great selection for non coffee drinkers. DH loves their Costa coffees. I buy most of the pods online. If you register with them you get money to spend in the online shop for your first order and I usually only buy more stuff when they've sent an email with money off or free delivery. Supermarkets sell their most popular lines too.
