Best carpet cleaner out there?

I NEED a carpet cleaner because I am a clean freak!

I don't want to rent one because knowing me I'll use my new carpet cleaner every week!

So I have 4xdogs, 2x children (5&1yr) and one on the way. A husband that comes in from work like a dust monster,I already hover at least once a day but every room in my house has carpets, so I would really like an easy, light, not something like the rug doctor because I have little steps in quite a lot of places,

Anyone out there, like me and in love with their carpet cleaner or have heard a carpet cleaner that is good for domestic use?

Exactly the same in my house. Combination of partner working in construction, 2 kids, a dog, 2 cats and carpets through out = constant paranoia about the house smelling. On dog and needing to clean! A carpet cleaner would be used numerous times a week.
