Removing nail polish from cotton fabric

Managed to catch my wet toes on the white and pale green duvet cover this morning, so it now has a patch of scarlet. Of course it would be the top where it's noticeable and it's my current favourite bedding that I only bought a few months ago.

Any ideas how to remove nail polish from cotton fabric? It's 100% cotton.

Couldn't believe it. I'd deliberately painted them in the bathroom to avoid any disasters in the bedroom (cream carpet) and then this happened

Nail varnish remover on cotton wool then washing machine.
