Worth getting a Roomba?

I generally vacuum once a week (whole house) with a Dyson. DH is convinced we need a Roomba as well to do a daily vacuum of the open-plan living/dining area. I'm not convinced it's worth it because I generally just sweep that area every second day or so and it takes about two minutes.

Would it be more trouble than it's worth, in terms of putting chairs on the table etc so that the Roomba can do under the table effectively? To me it's expensive plus needs storing...

Are they noisy? Do they do a decent job?

The floors are part tiles, part wood.

I started off with one ???? and it was so successful I now have two ???? brilliant copes with all different flooring types and yes you have to move some stuff out of the way but it's nice to go out put roomba on and it's all done by time I get back ????

I have one and it does do an amazing job, it never ceases to surprise me how much dirt and fluff it picks up. It is a bit of a faff emptying it and cleaning the brushes every time.

The children know not to leave small parts on the floor or the roomba will eat them.

I have coveted a roomba for a long time - but yet to make the plunge. For roomba owners - what is the real difference between the difference series? Is the basic one good enough - or would you recommend the 800 series?

they're great for day to day use, but you will still need to do a periodic clean with the big vacuum. They're good sweepers, but don't generate much suck, so deep down dust, dirt and grit gets left behind

I have one and love it, but for daily cleaning I have Braava and it really helps. Doesn't scrub or get this if stickiness but great at keeping on top of the open plan floors- it's very quiet so can use it whilst watching TV - roomba is very noisy!

Can it get onto rugs from hard floors? We have fairly thick rugs in parts of the open plan..
