Smell of vomit in carpet

How do I get rid of the smell from a rug (persian woolen type)? My toddler vomited 2 nights ago and I've tried cleaning it all up, but the smell has lingered. Any suggestions? Much appreciated!

Hea pen it and sprinkle lots of bicarb of soda on it. Leave it overnight then Hoover off. Should work.

Dampen it. Not hea pen it.

I second the bicarb approach. It got the smell of vomit out of my car's carpets.

Rugdoctor Odour Remover

Works with enzymes (follow instructions on spray bottle)

Tried and tested Sad many times...

Yes, bicarb

Although I used to make a runny paste with water & rub that in instead of damping & sprinkling (you can make sure it gets right in to the fibres that way) - then Hoover out after it's dried.

It's magic & leaves literally no smell Smile

Thanks- I had tried bicarb a few months ago (bit of a recurring theme, here) but I think the carpet had dried out, so I've placed bicarb on the damp carpet now. Fingers crossed!
