I've got the summer off and would love to get my house sorted. Is kondo a good way to do it and how do I do it?!

First get the book. Because it might not be for you. There's plenty of threads on here. Basically it's about getting rid of as much as you can and putting things away as you go along so ideally you shouldn't need to spend hours tidying and doing housework. Hmm I've bought the book but haven't really put it into practice yet.

Can anyone give a brief idea of how to do it without buying the book please?

The Marie Kondo method is as follows:

You declutter by category NOT by room.

You just do your own stuff. (You can encourage DCs and partners to do theirs, but not do it for them).

You declutter in the following order

1 Clothes
2 Books
3 Paper
4 Komono (miscellaneous)
5 Sentimental

You get rid of everything that doesn't bring you joy but getting everything in a category out at once, spreading it out on the floor and picking up each item individually to see if it "sparks joy". If it doesn't you get rid of it.

I'm still doing clothes but have got rid of more than half my clothes this way with no regrets.
