Does your child have a memory foam mattress?

DS1 has always been a terrible sleeper. He's really restless and rolls about, refuses to settle or lie still long enough to fall asleep.

He's 9!

He has complained for ages that his mattress isn't comfortable and I have to agree it isn't. I've promised to buy him a new one.

Would a memory foam one help do you think? Or would it just make matters worse?

Do they take time to get used to?

I'd take him into a bed show room so he can try lots of different styles and see. I used to have a memory foam one and it was lovely. DH said it was too soft.

My Dogs have a memory foam matress in their bed. They seem to like it.

He often complains of being too hot and sweats terribly in the night so that might be a problem.

Memory foam is lovely but not good for hot sleepers. It gets very hot.

Cupcakes that is actually helpful. Sometimes I think DS1 is more dog than human!

Hmm, yes I think the heat thing might be an issue. His hair is often soaking by midnight!

We got one for DD.
It has a layer of memory foam and some other thing underneath. She is a sweaty hot sleeper but it doesn't seem to bother her and she has slept much better since we got it.
We got a new bed and she liked our fairly solid mattress so it is medium firm I'd say. It is worth letting him try them although I find it very difficult to choose myself!

Sorry didn't word that well meant to say she liked our mattress that is why we chose the one we did (bought online).

Definitely don't get him a memory foam mattress if he gets hot. They are a nightmare in the summer when its warm. I have occasionally had to switch beds in the summer due to overheating in ours.

We bought DS a memory foam mattress topper to go on his existing mattress.

He's another one who gets hot at night but TBH he doesn't seem to get any hotter with the mattress topper as he did without

I had to get a new mattress for ds recently and was told by the man in the shop that memory foam is not suitable for children, although ds only 6 so a bit younger. They do get very hot.

Have a look at Sealy mattresses. They're pocket sprung with a foam topper, but the foam is "open cell foam" what the F--- that is and its more breathable so it stays cool

If you're near an Ikea you could try out their latex mattresses, I think they were recommended those ones because DP overheats in bed.

A wool duvet is fab for regulating temperature too.

Dammit too late. I've bought him a memory foam one. I'm hoping he doesn't get too hot.

I've never heard of a wool duvet though. Will investigate.

I used to have a latex one - was advised to go for this rather than memory foam as I am also a hot / restless sleeper.
It was heaven!
