This morning awoke to find that I'd stained v expensive memory foam mattress due to AF starting. It's so horrid and makes me feel dirty and stupid.

How can I remove stains?

Don't feel like that!!!!!
It's just an accident like breaking a favourite piece of china - VERY annoying, but that's all.

Use COLD water to dilute the stain. Rub or scrub then blot with a dry cloth. Keep repeating till stain mostly disappears.

Then turn the mattress over & forget about it! LOL

you can get stain removers that deal specifically with blood

but agree with fortyplus; cold water and blotting

There's no need to feel dirty. Your period started. What's dirty about that? It's not like you weed yourself or anything

would biological liquid dissolved in cold water help?

fortyplus · 20/11/2006 11:38

I think bio liquid might make things worse as you won't be able to rinse it properly. I made that mistake when I leaked breast milk all over my old mattress - the bio solution brought a purple coloured stain up from the underlying fabric. That shouldn't be a problem with a memory foam mattress, though - they are 100% synthetic.
I just bought a new mattress when we got past the bf/kids coming in bed weeing/puking stage. (shudder!)
If the stain won't come out then just buy a mattress protector - then you won't be able to see it.

Thanks for your help everyone, stain kind of out, mattress cover bought.

It seemed a big horrid disaster at the time, bloody hormones!
