how to clean a bath mat?

the ones that stick in the actual bath. with the little suckers on the bottom? I have had to throw my last 2 away because of the black minging water stuff on the bottom, it wouldnt scrub off.

any miracle products that would get rid of this?

I chuck mine in the washing machine on a 30 degree wash with a couple of towels and the towels scrub it clean.

Toothbrush and bleach works.

Catch it before it turns black. I scrubbed a whole lot of pink off the other day in the hope it'll last a bit longer.

Dettol Mould and Mildew spray.

Rinse and air dry after every shower/bath, chuck in with a 30 degree wash every now and then.

Fill bath a little bit add drop of bleach leave to soak for a while then toothbrush it and rinse

It depends. If it's a rubberised one, you can't. A plasticised one (like transparent silicone ~ probably a crap description!), I put mine into the washing machine at 40 degrees; just chuck it in with a normal dark load every few months...mine did say not to put into the machine, but I've been doing it for years now!

Washing machine, think I put it in at 40. But I do lift it after every use and stick it to the bath side to drain and dry.

I pull mine off, give it a dry with a towel going in the wash and hang it over the bath. Hg mould remover from b&q is good for bathrooms and that does a good job.

It's probably easier to prevent but it'll still grow. Washing machine on cool with some towels as been mentioned works.

I put mine in the dishwasher. Not sure it's the best for it but seems to work and comes out squeaky clean.

tbh, I would try to wash it in the washer, they are cheap enough to replace if it doesn't survive.
ours is still nice after a good 5 years...

well we've only had it 5 days so far so I want to prevent the problem happening again as it did with my beloved crocodile mat just got out the bath, will whip it up and let it air dry.

do you find the suckers still stick okay after peeling and resticking so many times?

Fill the bath with hot water the matt still in and add a wee bit of vanish. Works every time

my suckers suck just fine :o

We have this problem with the one in our shower. It's not practical to air dry it (tiny bathroom , nowhere to hang it).

I put it in the sink with a load of Milton, let it soak for a bit, then scrub it with a toothbrush. It always sticks just as well afterwards.

Dettol mould and mildew spray is amazing stuff and would certainly do the job much more easily, but is a pretty strong chemical solution and you'd probably have to wear goggles while you scrubbed. Milton does the trick.

The ikea crocodiles have machine washing instructions.

I've always taken it up, they're not sticky just flexible and work on suction

ours was an ikea Croc!

It's in the bin now

I will have a look at the new one we've got and see if I can wash it

My previous rubbery Ikea one practically rotted!
