Wax??!!

I have promised to lend a friend all of the hurricane vases I bought and used for my wedding, for her wedding in a few weeks time.

We have been using the vases as candle holders, and some have a lot of wax in the bottom, I'm talking whole melted pillar candles!

How do I go about getting this wax out?

Thanks in advance.

What are the bases made of?

TheReturnoftheSmartArse · 24/06/2015 10:45

Are you able to put them in the freezer? It's really easy to get frozen wax off things.

Glass.

I should have said that they are straight hurricane vases, with a fairly chunky bit of glass at the bottom.

Stand them in hot water, the wax will loosen and you can tip it out

Maybe they'll fit in the freezer, but the wax totally fills the bottom of the vase if you see what I mean. Like it melted, set, and now sits in the entire base. About an inch or two of it!

I'll try the hot water first!

It probably depends on how thick the glass is. This website suggests either freezing them or filling with boiling water: www.wikihow.com/Get-Wax-out-of-a-Jar-Candle

Ooooops...

I took two off the mantelpiece to try the hot water, the wax just tipped out on its own!

Thanks for the tips though, shall use them for any stubborn waxy bits!

Thank you. The hot water worked for me.
