GTech airRam vacuum

Hi, I'm considering buying a GTech airRam cordless vacuum. Does anyone have one and if so would you recommend it? I need something fairly light, easy to use and good at picking up both human and dog hair (I moult more than the dog!)

I've had one for a year. I think it's fab, so easy to just vacuum the rugs and carpets. Very light and easy and it picks up very well.

The house is much neater as I vacuum so much more now as it's just on hand to use.

I don't find it so great on hard wood floors, it doesn't seem to have the same suction. I resort to my plug in vacuum for the kitchen and hall.

I do rate it though and I'm getting the hand held one for the car soon.

Yes, I've got one too and it is good - although I still hate vacuuming.

Much easier to use than one with a flex and light to carry.

But there are some new models on the market now from other manufacturers so it might be worth researching those as well?

I had one for a few months and it was utterly dreadful. It wasn't good at picking up, I spent my life cleaning it, filters need washing monthly and take an age to dry. As an incidental machine you use occasionally maybe it is worth it, but as your main hoover it just does not have the guts. It is just an old Ewbank carpet sweeper with an inadequate overheating motor in it. I read a review on Amazon which said if you were a bald man with a goldfish then it may be ok, but if you have any hair you will spend your life cutting it out of the rollers. Oh and the battery is always dying and there are flashing lights and cutouts. And you can only send back for a refund for 30 days and then they just won't help at all.

Oh and the handheld - you have to hold the on switch down all the time - it doesn't have a clickable on/off switch.

Anyway - after lots of hassle and grief and credit card/paypal assistance I got a refund and bought a Air Reach Vax instead - best hoover I've ever had.

Along the same lines I have a cordless Dyson, it's amazing. Lightweight and incredibly powerful.

Actually I have very long hair and you do have to cut the hair from around the wheel/roller bit of the vacuum. I do it once a month as it tangles round it. I forgot to mention that and it is annoying.

I don't like the idea of holding the button down all the time on the hand held

I bought the K9 one specifically for robustness and coping with hair - but it was still no good.

V disappointing - I really wanted it to be fab, cordless and lightweight. Was a dream first couple of weeks. Then it all went downhill. Concept great but in execution nothing like I had hoped. And if you are paying £250 for a machine you kind of what it to be pretty fabulous.

I bought a GTech upright and handheld combo and I like them very much. I've had Dysons before (mains powered and battery) and became tired of making excuses for them after a month or two so thought I would try the 'opposition'. They're not perfect - no machine is - but they're doing well so far on all surfaces, have good batteries and I seem to be doing more vacuuming due to their ease of use. (I have other mains-powered vacuums but it's the GTechs that I seem to be using most. I've had no problem with them on hard floors either although their effect is less noticeable than carpets due to the nature of the cleaning here.)

It's ok. Great for a quick run around but she's found that you still have to periodically use your mains powered vacuum as the GTech isn't too great for deep cleaning.

Also, you don't have to keep the button pressed. That must have been a fault

you do have to keep the button pressed on the handheld one - but not on the upright.

I clean for someone who has both the hoover and the handheld vtech models.

To be honest for a bungalow and an elderly couple the hoover is ok. Like an electric carpet sweeper. Their model would be useless in a house. I miss the fact I can't get into corners as there is no crevice tool or upholstery tool. They have the handheld model for this. In my opinion the handheld device is useless. It doesn't have any power. They don't have pets or long hair so can't rate it for that.

I think personally they are too overpriced for what they can achieve.

Much prefer the Miele hoovers. I recently picked one up in the Argos sale last month and I absolutely love it. It's so powerful you have to be careful not to hoover up things you don't want to.

Thank you all for sharing. Hmm not sure about getting one now. I'll have a look at some others including the Vax one that was mentioned. What I liked about the Gtech was the fact the dust is compacted into 'tidy bales', as per the advert.

it isn't really compacted at all tbh - think the advert uses a bit of artistic licence on that one. It is just tiny compartments which need emptying very often indeed.

I think whatever hoover you use emptying it is not the nicest job!

I have the upright and handheld one and wish i hadn't wasted the money.It would be ok if you have no children or pets and work outside the home most of the time, its more like a duster or a carpet sweeper than a vac imo.
