Experiences of buying from Wayfair.co.uk?

Thinking of buying a bed from this company, but hadn't actually heard of them until I started googling beds. If you have bought from them, would be interested in knowing whether you would recommend? Did goods arrive as described and on time? TIA

A late reply, but warrented as I have been waiting a week for a delivery and still don't know when it might arrive.

Two problems:

  1. The customer service phone number is pretty hidden. You need to Google to find one.
  1. They use XDP as their delivery firm. First my furniture was lost at the delivery depot (which I assume is the main depot) then I got a call from a nice man on the Monday morning saying it had been found over the weekend and was in the "collection depot". When did I want it? The sooner the better so we agreed Tuesday. No phone call or text giving my four hour delivery time slot, and the tracker still says it is in the depot. No reply from the XDP number I was called on, or rather a recorded message suggesting I used a premium rate line. Wayfair can't get a response either.

So a lovely sunny day in school holidays and I am stuck waiting again, with every liklihood that the delivery wont take place till tomorriow or the day after.

Appliance On Line and Oak Fuirniture Land have cracked the delivery thing, and indeed the former were quick to both provide an explanation and a credit when things once went. Wayfair customer service people are lovely. However they are in Ireland and don't seem to have much influence on their delivery people.

So some of the Wairfair stuff is really nice, but its the second time I've used them and the second time it is not working out. (First time was a smaller item. A three day delivery window and clear instructions to leave goods at the reception of the office block next door if I was out. They failed to wake sleeping teenager, probably not their fault, but then went away despite my clear and practical instructions.)

Long rant, but if you hate winding up in delivery limbo, Wayfair is not the firm for you.

I feel a bit better now!

It arrived, but delivery service continued to be appalling. It was furniture for a rental property so no my home. No phone call text or email,. They simply updated the tracker part way through the morning. Luckily the lovely Wayfair lady phoned me to check I had spotted it, so I had five minutes warning to leave home. Then, inevitbaly, it was late.

Most shocking was the delivery man's demands for extra money. A first floor London flat but with a few (six) steps from the street up to the entrance door. He decided that this was an extra floor, and claimed his insurance did not cover him (Wayfair did not even ask about accessibility, and this flat must be much better than most) to go above the first floor so I needed to pay him more. It was very unpleasant. In the end I said I would carry it up the six steps myself and they gave in, though cussing as they left.

With AO they get you to sign off that the delivery people have been helpful and pleasant and that you got sufficient warning. When will internet firms realise how important the customer facing bit is. No amount of cost saving (and I went to Wayfair because I liked the design, so it was not about price) is worth a week of delivery hell.

On the flip side I've used them once (for a chest of drawers) and they were first class. Delivery at expected time and brought into house for me. I was delighted with both the furniture and the service.

I've had 3 deliveries, first 2 very quick & goods ranged from fine to fab. 3rd delivery was a total pain as was supposed to be delivered as previous 2 in a one hour window. It failed to appear & I spent ages going back & forth with wayfair till it transpired that parcel had been stuck in the bin by delivery Co. !!! Talk about a 'rubbish' place to hide it...

Do take care when ordering from Wayfair. Their website details can be incorrect eg describing a Feather and minute amount of Down duvet as a 'Down duvet'.
Latest is selling unsafe non fire safety compliant upholstered chairs made in China but imported via France to cover the trail and giving them a Norwegian name! How many think to check for CE marks or upholstery safety tags?? Their product ranges are so large they have no idea what they are selling.

My first experience with them was awful - first of all the courrier asked for additional money claiming the delivery hasn't been paid for. I called their hotline and they cleared it out. Then they refused to bring my sofa into the house. When I open the package, I saw it was a completely different color than I ordered. I started searching for Wayfair reviews Wayfair reviews and most of them are negative. It is not uncommon for people to be unhappy about their shopping with Wayfair. They need to improve

Hi: I have just reviewed Wayfair on Trustpilot as I have just wasted 3 days waiting for a bed that didn't turn up. This is the text of my review: I ordered a bed for my daughter who is starting uni.Got a delivery slot on Thursday but bed didn't turn up. No one rang me. I rang them the next day to be told it was lost. Then told they couldn't deliver till Monday and that was final. Was told I couldn't speak to manager till end of day as he was "so busy". Finally after 20 mins on phone, manager was found and he told me best he cld do was Sunday. Then on Friday we rang them to double check delivery address but out of the blue they told us it could be delivered in 10 mins. I ended up running to my daughter's flat-still no delivery. Another 2 hours wasted. Daughter still sleeping on floor. I rang them Sat to be told I'd get a call on Sat but no call came. Daughter rang to be told it will be delivered "some time next week but they couldn't say which day", she still on floor. So we've been promised 4 failed slots but now told "anytime next week" ?????

Basically we drove 200 miles to set up my daughter in a new city and hours were wasted waiting around and on the phone just for the sake of a simple bed. We had a lot of other stuff to do too!! As a parent, I felt awful leaving my daughter without a bed. We had planned to help her assemble it but God knows where it is. This is a company that urgently needs to sort out communication between customer, call centre and delivery company. Meanwhile 1 customer is still on the floor.
I would never use them again-I know things go wrong but they don't bother to communicate, just VERY POOR!!

I bought a flat pack desk. It was completely unstable when put together and one of the fixings ripped out of the chipboard leaving a big area of damage. Customer services told me to return it to the original packaging and they would collect. Said it was already made and I no longer had the box so they said just dispose of it and refunded me without question. I found their customer service really good.

Only place I could get pair of mirrors in a particular size.Descrption of frame not exact but was aware due to the reviews.
Thought long and hard before purchasing infact took around 3 weeks to make my decision as many had said mirrors were delivered broken.
Happy to say they arrived in excellent condition.within a couple of days was phoned twice within the day to tell me whereabouts and expected time of delivery.
For me excellent service but not sure, I would use them again as I feel I just struck lucky the stress was a bit much.

I hope somebody in Wayfair management is reading this or hears of this thread and vows to improve their company.

Sparkles57 · 08/09/2019 16:42

Absolutely crap! The delivery said 3-5 working days and it was 10 before I got it!

RingtheBells · 08/09/2019 18:25

The item I ordered was fine, the delivery service is not very reliable and hard to contact, mine came earlier than expected and I wasn’t going to be in, and it was difficult knowing if me changing the delivery day had got through to them

Cecilia2016 · 08/09/2019 19:20

I just ordered 3 items from them last week and all was fine and all 3 items came after 2 days of ordering and also they kept in touch with me via the email departure and delivery date. So far so good

Ukuleles · 01/11/2019 14:50

I noticed someone was thinking about buying something from Wayfair the other day and wondering what they were like. My advice is leave well alone. I ordered an item of furniture at sale price, was charged the full price, and when it arrived , after counting all the pieces which were numbered there was a piece missing - but also a piece that was damaged - I didn't know if that was supposed to be the missing piece. They asked me to send a photo. Unfortunately I couldn't because I had a problem with my phone so sent a photo via an e-mail attachment. They wouldn't accept this. I kept telling them that I couldn't send the photo - they sent several more requests for photos. The page they send said 'UPLOAD PHOTO'. When I clicked on the page it goes to another page which requested the reference number. When I keyed in the number it said 'reference no. not recognised'. This pantomime went on until I made threatening noises. I was then told that the piece was not available and was offered a 20% discount which I accepted. Next day another e-mail told me the piece was available. I replied saying that I would write to Which about the appalling service. Two days later I received another e-mail which told me I would receive a £271 refund which would be in my account in 3-5 working days. When I checked a week later no such refund had been received.

Wayfair sent me a piece of defective furniture. When I contacted them they arranged a substitution and courier to pick up the defective one. Instead of the substitution the courier for 5 times delivered to me the same defective item that was supposed to go back to Wayfair. To get the item in the right conditions took more than two months and numerous emails and phone call. Shame.

came on here for the "ordered a cushion and got a lady in a box" comments but there's none to be found! Grin
