my dp recently valted our car seats with a rug doctor. we rented it from morrisons to clean living room carpet and he gave it a bash on the car seats. It worked amazingly and they were in a terrible state. Costs about £25 for one day (including shampoo) so you could maybe tie it in with cleaning your carpets as well.

good luck! xx
