I think all purpose built shoe storage actually wastes space, as there's so much cupboard in relation to the number of shoes held.We have a big crate in the kitchen, so its like a contained messy pile. Ans upstairs, my shoes are in stacked down the side of the wardrobe in shoesboxes.

I've been looking into this and have found:
see-through plastic shoeboxes to stack in the bottom of the wardrobe

a shoe cupboardy thing from Ikea

underbed storage boxes with shoe compartments from La Redoute or Argos

currently mine are in a big cardboard box so I can't vouch for the practical use of either of these options but I am working towards it

Quootiepie · 12/11/2006 15:25

Ive heard/seen about people putting them in shoes boxes and stacking them, with photos of the shoes on the front.

you can get standy uppy things to go inside your boots to stop them turning into a snake pit

or stuff the innards of rolls of gift wrap with newspaper

Cappuccino · 12/11/2006 15:27

shouldn't you be asking Anthea this ?

mustrunmore · 12/11/2006 15:27

Photots on the boxes?? I'd never be that organised! But I do label the boxes, with tippex if they're a dark colour. Oh, and all ds1 and ds2's clothes drawers are labelled with the label printer too, in sizes followed by type of clothes.

You can get them at Ikea, but they only seem to hold 8 pairs of shoes. this one from the Cotswold Co. holds up to 18 though. Probably not boots. (wait for Anthea to give you some ideas)

Before dd I had all my shoes in shoe boxes with a brief description written on the front, now that I have 15 month dd I still have these boxes with shoes in them but do not always match the descr, can be very annoying with two minutes to go out and box says red wedges and out comes flip flops, however some day I will be that organised again. Ps I also have a heap at the bottom of my wardrobe.

Let some of your shoes go, and help children in Malawi have a better life .

I have a huge crate (the sort for kids toys with wheels and a lid on). Most of them go in that so they're out of the way. However, day to day pairs do tend to linger round the house.
