Laundry advice...Ressurecting whites

Well I'm paying for my 'bung it all in the washer and press the button' policy. Today is DS's 1st school photo and his 'white' polo shirts are a gubby greyish beige.

I dug out an unused white one but apart from dumping the other 4, all his vests and undies is there anyway I can resurect the washed out ones and make them a little more pristine.

Advice appreciated and I will do a separate white and coloured wash from now on

are they 100% cotton? cos you can soak them overnight in a mild bleach solution if so

if they're nylon or polyester mix though they'll melt

or you can buy a box of glo-white at the supermarkets and give that a go if you're not sure about the cotton issue

Glo-white is pretty remarkable. Resurrected some net curtains once - they were like new - so I would definitely give it a whirl...

Soak in a bowl of hot persil (NOT coloureds powder) biological powder for a few hours, wash on as hot a wash you can, again with the persil powder, dry in the sun.

Repeat a couple of times and everything will brighten lots.

Glo white... I always keep a box in the cupboard ready for emergencies. Works every time.

Napisan is also good if you can still buy it - used to use it when waitressing. Soak shirts in it overnight and they come up lovely and white.

Well thanks for all the suggestions. Hubby is headin to the supermarket with aq list including glo white and persil

BTW I did a white only wash and everything has perked up no end. I will never bun it all in the washer without sorting it out again
