Dp washes up 4 times a day (I think) and there are 3 of us. After breakfast, after lunch, before dinner (all dinner prep stuff) and then after dinner too. I do help with after dinner stuff.

When I was home on mat leave I did it twice. After lunch and after dinner and tried to prep dinner before lunch so got it all out of the way together and only have to wash the chopping board etc once. In fact I'd often cook 2 dinners so didnt ahve to do it the next day .

After breakfast, after lunch, before dinner (the prep stuff) then dp washes up after dinner.

i must be a super lazy madam then.. i wack it all in the bowl over the course of the day, then wash it after dinner... mostly.. unless im super stressed, and super tired, and cant be arsed, then i do it the following morning.. and now i sound like a slob. im not, honest! just hate washing up.
there's 3 of us.

Quootiepie · 08/11/2006 16:55

2 - 4 times a day, depending on how lazy I am/how much we use pots & pans wise etc.

Before I had my DW, I used to washup 3 times aday. All after Breakfast, Lunch, and dinner.

DW now does most of it after dinner, and I washup the bits that cant go in a DW once aday. Mugs are done every time I make a fresh mug of coffee. I have a spray bottle with a weak mix of washup liquid and spray the mug with and then wash. I use that on other little bits that I washup after use.

No dishwasher how though I'd love one

I wash up after every meal/cup of tea atc. Dirty pots in teh sink is my pet hate, just can't do it.

southeastastra · 08/11/2006 17:29

whenever it needs doing! can't leave it all day

WriggleJiggle · 08/11/2006 17:30

2 plus the wriggler.
Wash up if the wriggler sleeps, or when the sink can't fit anymore in !

pointydog · 08/11/2006 17:40

Why do you ask?

We wash up after breakfast (nothing to it), usually after lunch if we're about (hardly anything), after tea (the big one) and usually the couple of dishes after kids'/our supper. Drip dry. Put away once a day in morning.

4 of us. I honestly find it far less hassle than a d/w.

hollyhobbie · 08/11/2006 18:46

I'm mostly like FireFaerie (you're not alone!) we mainly wash up once after tea, but it's not uncommon to leave it all until the next day.

At the moment, though, DD likes to sit with me in the kitchen while I cook her lunch or tea, so I try to do little bits at a time while the pasta's cooking, etc.

In fact she now says 'more more!' and points to the sink, and I have to put my gloves back on and get on with it until I'm finished. I think it's quite hypnotic for het to watch me!

(there's me, DH and DD, but I'm sure we generate much more washing up than just 3 people's worth!)

jamieboo · 08/11/2006 18:56

we just wash everything after we have used it. well when i say 'we' i mean dp does all the washing!

mousiemousie · 08/11/2006 18:58

After every meal or snack

Takes no time and is no bother - I leave stuff to air dry

3 of us

Oooh am going to nick the weak washingup liquid in spray bottle idea .

When we were both working the washing up got done once a day at night (and not always that often...)

Now I'm at home I try to keep on top of it as I go along, especially prep stuff but dh tends to let it pile up if he cooks and then I wash the dishes before I go to bed.

When lo comes along then it'll probably be twice a day depending on how much mess is made .

squatchette · 09/11/2006 09:22

There are 4 of us and I wash up as we use stuff but leave it to air dry.Never had a dishwasher. I don't feel the need for one either ,it never takes more than 5 mins anyway if you don't let it pile up.Being a flyer I've got to keep that sink shining!

expatinscotland · 09/11/2006 09:23

2-4 times/day. there are 4 of us and we make nearly everything we eat at home.

jodee · 09/11/2006 09:26

Breakfast stuff will now sit in the sink until I get home from work/school run at 3.30.

Dinner stuff will sit in the sink until DH decides to do it (I cook the evening meal).
