Think I've destroyed a pillow by washing it! Oops- can I save it?

Ds was sick on his pillow last night so I put it in the wash, cool cycle, low spin. It came out dripping wet and lumpy.

It was 11.30pmand I was hanging so I dumped it in the bath to drip and went to bed.

I've hung it on the line this morning but is incredibly lumpy still.

Any ideas how I can rescue it? It's an ikea one so not £££ but I hate chucking stuff out!

Wash it again but this time put a tennis ball in with it (low temperature!).
You can also tumble dry with a ball. Helps to even out the filling.
I don know if it works on ones that have already gone lumpy rather than preventing though.

We don't have a tumble drier and no tennis balls either! Confused

It just needs to dry out more!

I've had to be ruthless with some of my pillows which developed lumps after washing which couldn't be sorted. (And that's not to mention the two that appeared to be OK beforehand but actually turned out to have very slight manufacturing issues which only manifested in the washing and drying process and resulted in drifts of stuffing everywhere!)

My own temptation would be to ditch it but I'd be interested in tips for future reference.

What kind of stuffing is it?

Suddengeekgirl · 06/05/2015 09:52

It's synthetic-y stuff. Can't remember the name, but it's not feathers or anything natural.

I've washed other pillows before and they never turned out so lumpy! Confused

Sounds like the ones I had trouble with - small bits of synthetic foam/fluffy stuff ?

If this one has gone wrong, I think I'd bite the bullet, give it an honourable send-off and resolve not to buy that particular brand again.

You might still get a good tip though.
