Dishes still feel dirty even after they've been in the dishwasher..

I've cleaned out the filter, put in salt (for the first time in ages) and ran it twice through with no dishes inside on the hottest wash but the dishes still feel all grainy.

Any ideas for what might be wrong or what we can do? I'd rather not pay someone to do the obvious.

what about some rinse aid - even if your tablets have it in?
my dishes keep coming out gritty - sometimes i think its the salt or rinseaid and sometimes its the way ive loaded the machine
mine is a fairly new one Beko - I think ive got what i paid for!!

LIZS · 07/11/2006 15:26

Agree it might need somm rinse aid.

I'll give the rinse aid a try but I was looking at some of the mugs and they're dirtier after the wash as there's lots of minute crumbs sticking all over it. Does this sound like the a filter somewhere in the machine is blocked?
Honestly last Nov our oven broke and we had to rush around to get one fixed before xmas never mind the cost. I can see the same thinh happening again.

check the outlet pipe isn't blocked it might be that dirty water is somehow filtering back in or not emptying properly.

I don't know really just guessing.

It does sometimes happen to ours.

GraceUnderFire · 07/11/2006 20:03

Mine did this and it got worse and worse til it wasn't draining properly at all. Dh took it apart a bit (he does that) and one of the pipes (the outlet pipe sounds like a good guess) was blocked with food and...well, like lard He cleared it out and it's been fine ever since - rinse aid didn't help, btw.

This was happening with mine, and I find that leaving a space on the lower rack (where the little door pops open when machine is in cycle, and tablet falls out) seems to do the trick. Sometimes if that area on the lower rack is too full of crockery, the tablet gets caught up on it, especially if large items are in the way, and can't distribute properly.

YOu could try running it through with either some vinegar in, or one of those dishwasher cleaners.

time4me · 02/12/2006 15:33

Could your dinner plates be too big?

auntymandy · 02/12/2006 15:59

did you wash them with mashed potato pots?!!!
Also can I reccomend you buy yhe cheapest tablets you can...they are so much better than expensive ones!!
I buy them from the £1 shop for £1 a box and my dishes sparkle!!

I had this once, bought one of those finish cleaning bottles, the ones you remove the label on the top, and it sorted the problem out, I use one every month and it certainly helped me.

Check your outlet pipe for food debris.
Use a satchet of dishwasher cleaner.
Check rotating arms don't have bits of rice stuck in the rinsing holes.

That's all I can suggest. Good luck
