How to clean an iron

Hi all,

Not a question but a tip I would like to share.

Let's imagine you accidentally ironed something that's not supposed to be ironed, the material melted and is now stuck to it, you can clean your iron by setting it on low heat and rubbing it with a candle that's wrapped into a cloth (or maybe even a paper towel, but do not just rub the candle on the iron !)

Your iron gets super clean!

A while ago I accidentally dropped my warm iron on the carpet and it looked as if I had ruined it forever, until I tried the candle trick which worked like a charm.

Oh and it also works if the melted stuff has been on the iron for a while...

Another way of cleaning the sticky stuff off an iron is gently rub the hot plate, when it is warm, with a paracetamol (you have to be very careful not to burn your fingers) or a piece of chalk. It melts it all clean away, I wipe it over with a damp cloth after to make sure it's completely clean.
