My. Philips Perfectcare Aqua has green slime in the water reservoir

Hi, I have a Philips Perfectcare Aqua steam iron, which is generally very good. However, it has developed green slime in the water reservoir which is coming out on clothes as I iron them. I can't find the instruction manual, to find out what to do. Does anyone have any ideas on how to sort it out please?

this is algae, due to not emptying out the water after use, and leaving it in light.

The usual descalers are acid and will kill it and perhaps you can shake it out through the filling hole. If the reservoir is detachable, you can use a denture tablet and rinse very well.

Try the manufacturer's website, you can download the instructions but they will also have an advice line.

Thanks very much. I will give the de scaler a try. I didn't know that the iron was supposed to be kept in a dark area.

it's only if there is water in there, light encourages the spores to grow. If it is dry, will have no effect.
