Apologies if this has been done recently, but Tinshoes post in the FLY thread got me thinking... when is everyone planning to put up xmas decs? i usually don't till december but with ds2 due on 25th november and then going up to my parents for xmas i feel like i'd like to do it earlier while i have the energy to do them and so that i can enjoy them.

We put our decorations up on December the 1st
We keep them up untill the end of December...we just have one month of decoration mayhem...the tree goes up at the same time and comes down the same too

Beabea · 06/11/2006 14:37

Normally the weekend before my birthday on 14th Dec. I like having them but its such a faff putting them away again.

tinshoes · 06/11/2006 14:37

lol. glad to see i got the brain whirring....

mine go up in the first week of december.

MrsBadger · 06/11/2006 14:40

golly this is a popular question today - there's a thread on this here , and indeed a whole Christmas topic here ...

pippah · 06/11/2006 16:24

Doh, should have thought and done a search 1st. Although I was interested to have the official FLYbaby line on this - LOL!

Having read the other thread, I now feel really embarrassed for even considering putting them up at the end of this month! Usually I would laugh too if I saw decs up now, but I think its cos I'm trying to do all my Christmas preps before baby arrives, so I'm feeling much more festive than I should be at this time of year!

we always put them up around the 1st of dec, or as near as depending on which day it falls on..

PennySweet · 06/11/2006 18:22

I went past a house on the bus on Saturday, and the front room was adorned with lit up decorations and a lit up Christmas Tree! Couldn't believe it! They're probably the sort of people that have had them up for weeks too!

tortoise · 06/11/2006 18:28

As soon as possible!
I love having the lights and tree etc up. Need to clear a space 1st then fight my way to the back of the loft for the decorations! Will probably be the end of nov by then.

pippah · 06/11/2006 19:19

I like your idea Ruby! I'm thinking maybe go 'wintery' rather than christmassy at first (e.g. silver table runner on table, wintery smelling candles) and then get the tree and 'proper' decs up nearer the time...

Also glad that I'm not the only one thinking about Xmas already!! I think that fact the all the FLYing has made the house look nice has made me turn my attention to the decor as well. Still, once the bubs is here it will be looking a tip again, so I'd better not get too into decorating it....I'll need all available surface for all the accumulated baby stuff to go on!

1st December

Blondilocks · 06/11/2006 19:21

When the school christmas holiday has started.

YellowFeathers · 06/11/2006 19:21

1st December here.
Although it would be earlier if dh didnt have his say.

NannyL · 11/11/2006 18:05

Never before 14th December but nearer 20th ish if possible...

thats my opinion anyway

I HATE seeing ANY Xmas stuff before Decemeber... especially in private houses.... Novemeber uis simply NOT XMas imo (and nor is 1st dec to be honest!)

We'll get our tree and put up our decorations over the weekend of the 16th/17th. Couldn't bear the excitement from the kids if we did it any sooner and also because we like a real tree and it just wouldn't last a whole month!
