Cleaner dilemma

Hi all

We have a weekly cleaner who does an OK job. Today I came home and there was a dark large stain (possibly grey dirt from outside) on our cream rug. She wears slippers so I don't know what it is. I have managed to clean it up with a lot of scrubbing but there is a faint mark. I don't mind that she made the stain but it seems odd for her not to text me and say sorry. I don't think it's possible for her not to have realised she did it as it was thd first thing I saw when I came in the lounge. Should I ask her if she knows what it is or just leave it and see if it happens again (in which case that would be the last time it happens)!

I also have a cleaner and would ask.

Is she insured?

The excess on her insurance will be about £250 so the rug would have to be worth more than the excess to make claiming an option, she would still have to pay the excess herself.

Could anyone else have done it and she thought you knew, this has happened to us a few times, we've noticed damage and assumed the homeowner knew but they thought we did it. Luckily our clients know us to be truthful and never doubt our word but it could happen and i would not know how to address it if we genuinely didn't break/damage the item.

Thanks all, it wasn't anyone else. I think as it's not too noticable I will leave it this time and see if it happens again.
