Steam cleaning windows

Do I have to wipe the windows after steam cleaning them ?

I steam cleaned then wiped with a clean cloth. Still smeary

I dry them with a microfibre cloth - but my steam cleaner is old and bit too wet

On another note, steaming wall tiles does it work and do I need to find the hand attachments??
