My car is a lush :-(

Hi, I'm appealing to the Good Ship Mumsnet for the salvation of my beautiful brand new car that seems to have developed a bit of a drink problem......

My lovely DM managed to spill a third of a bottle of red wine in the rear footwell last night. I scrubbed it with neat Fabreeze/Flash floor cleaner last night but it smells awful today Confused

I'm terrified of getting pulled over by the police - my car is quite literally hiccuping! The smell of red wine is bad enough to make the tyres melt.

It's dried out and left a stain but the carpet is black so not too noticeable - unlike the aroma.

Any pearls of wisdom about how to fumigate it? Should I start making enquiries about drive through AA meetings?

Thanks in advance WineWineWine

Bicarbonate of soda?
White wine maybe?

I've got baking powder and Baileys - not sure I'm quite on the right lines!

Would baking powder work if I re-wet it?

Thanks

I have nothing to help you but your post made me Grin - I hope DC (dear car) can make it through his problems and battle his demons into submission Wink

Sorry! Bicarbonate!! I was joking about baking powder!! I've got some Chinese five spice powder too irrelevant

I hope it can too...it's on the wagon as of right now!!

DM's FCUK handbag is currently in handbag detox - having it's winey stomach pumped washing machine

Mwahahaha. DM is absolutely f*ed. In my experience that handbag is drunk for life.

But then these two posts are my sum total in the Good Housekeeping area

I'm 97.8% certain that it's no coincidence that my dyson has packed up the moment I tipped a whole tub of sodium bicarbonate into my 3 week old car...

I wouldn't put it past my DM to get the dyson pissed too Angry
