Stains on clothes after washing

Anyone have any idea why my washing machine has started leaving stains on clothes?

They kind of look like water stains. Usually manage to get them out by using a stain remover but not always, it's driving me mad.

Machine is about 4 years old, regularly do maintenance washes either with a dash of bleach or soda crystals. Take washing out as soon as its finished..

Do they look like greasy spots? We get this mainly on plain t shirt material type tops. Really annoying if it's new and comes out like that. Tried boil wash, soda crystals etc to no avail so hope someone has an answer.

Yes they do look a bit like grease marks. Hoping some knowledgeable mnetter can shed some light on it.

Have you tried washing up liquid on stains? Leave it to soak in overnight if it's really stubborn, then wash as normal.
Works for me.

If they are greasy marks, and especially if you can see any metal specs or shavings in the clothes, the drum bearing is breaking up and the machine goes in the skip.

Thanks pigletjohn, I haven't noticed any metal bits but will look for them now. Oh I hope it doesn't need replacing Sad.

1805 thanks for the tip, will try that to at least remove the marks.
