Dreadful smell when washing machine drains

Any ideas?

The filter is clear, the machine itself clean with service washes done regularly, the seal and drawer clean, the u bend checked, and the drain itself doesn't smell independently and is cleaned periodically....

TIA.

smell from where?

the washer? the sink? the waste pipe? the yard gully?

Photos of your drainage arrangement please, including the flexible hose.

When did you last clean the pump filter in the machine? How often do you do a 90C maintenance wash?

I get this too, the connection bit under the sink connects the sink and washing machine to the drain part, like a Y shape and now and again when the machine drains, a horrid smell comes up the sink, I just pour bleach or zoflora down there and it seems to work for a while, not sure what I can do long term though Confused

The smell comes from the sink.
The smell carried on after the filter was checked and was clear.Same after a 90 degree maintenance wash.Same after having u bend off and checking it.Same after cleaning the drain.
Had the same problem to when our old washing machine was being used.

In your picture, the flexible hose turns downward from the connection at the sink waste. This means that dirty water from the sink, including tea-leaves, bacon fat and cods heads run down the hose towards the washer.

Re-route the hose so that it loops upwards and touches the worktop. Preferably tie it up with a bit of string and a couple of cup-hooks screwed into the side or back of the kitchen unit.
