Washing machine with one hour cycle

littlequestion · 10/04/2015 11:49

Our washing machine is on its last legs so I need to get a new one. I'm hoping not to pay much more than £300.

Our current one has a one-hour wash cycle which I use all the time. I've been looking at reviews and it seems most washing machines take nearly 3 hours to do a standard 40 degree load.

Can anyone recommend a machine that has a one-hour programme?

Mine has a 30 minute cycle, which I thought was fairly standard these days on newer models. Its usually the eco friendly programme.

I have a Miele so unfortunately I don't think you will find one if your price range. Im not in UK so cant recommend a brand, but to me an hour cycle is fairly long.

Mine does. It's a Miele I think. I'm out at the moment but I'll check and let you know. It was top in the Which? Guide for machines a few years ago.

My Bosch has a 1hr 3min mixed wash 40 degree cycle. It is a fairly new washing machine.

We have a Siemens. The standard 40 deg cottons Is 80 minutes. 30 deg is 70 mins. There is a 15 minute quick wash. If you use the synthetics cycles they are well under an hour.

I have a Hoover... it has a 30 min 30 degree wash and a 45 minute 40 degree wash.

I've got a Siemens. Its standard programmes are around 2 hours 30 minutes, but it's got a speed mode of about 1 hour (depending on fabric/temperature) which I normally use and a special 15 minute quick wash. However its spin is bloody awful so I almost always want to add an extra 13 minutes to do another spin cycle which is annoying and I couldn't really recommend it.

If you look in detail at the specs almost all modern machines will have a 15/20 minute speed wash option for emergencies, but I agree that a 1 hour wash to use for normal loads is ideal.

If you're anywhere near manchester you can have ours (we have twoGrin) for £50. Is a samsung and a few years old but works well and does a short cycle well.

JemFinch · 10/04/2015 12:12

My samsung has a 30 min quick wash and standard wash is 1hr7. Don't think it was more than £300.

Who has time for a cycle that's three hours?!?

morethanpotatoprints · 10/04/2015 12:16

Our machine has programmes from 15 mins to up to 2 hours its a 9kg Beco and we have had it about 6 months now and its brilliant.
if you just want to freshen you can just use the 15 min or 30 min programme. These also allow you to wash at what temp you like, unlike some makes that only allow 30 degree washes on lower time washes.
I'm sure it was less than £300

We have this Samsung Ecobubble - this exact model isn't reviewed on Which, but an almost identical one scores 67% in their review. The main complaint is that it can be a bit noisy at high spin - mine lives in a utility cupboard so I don't really notice. It is a great machine.

bloodyteenagers · 10/04/2015 13:02

I have a an Eco bubble as well. Has the hour wash and a 15 minutes wash, plus many others.

Have a look on ao.com fab site for appliances.

Ha, thanks for the offer Christelle2207 but we're a couple of hundred miles away....thanks for the suggestions everyone else.

The longer cycles clean better though and usually more Eco, as obviously something spun and washed for 3 hrs should be compared to a 30min speed wash.

I don't understand the not having time question, your not actually washing it yourself for 3 hrs, just just put in as usual. Ours is about 2 1/2 hrs. We put in before bed on a timer, it turns on about 4am, and as a dryer also dries after. By 7.30am it's washed and dried whilst we slept. Just fold quick and away
