I've had the Miele for about 6 months now and love it but have just discovered I should be changing filters! I was wondering what the bits of foam that came with the bags were.

I managed the smaller one but can't figure out the bigger one and you tube isn't helping. I have pics attached and assume I need to open this somehow?

Help please?!!

Not trying to be rude but have you looked at the instruction booklet?

Helgathehairy · 08/04/2015 10:44

That would be the logical thing but I can't find it. Think I threw it out after thinking how difficult could a vacuum be! I've never had one that I've had to change filters in before.

Although you just gave me the brainwave to look it up online and it looks like I need to replace the entire thing, as opposed to opening it and replacing the fabric bit.

there are several different models of final filter IIRC the activated carbon (deodorising) filter is swapped including its plastic holder, but others only change the inside part.

Don't throw the plastic thing out! Mine unclips and you cut the filter stuff to size

I will have a look in my machine, but I think as pp said, you replace the whole thing, from looking at your filter pic there.

Hmm, mine doesn't seem to look quite like yours, I must have a different model? I would call Miele, they are very helpful. Their helpline number is on their website, where you can also buy all the filters etc.

(the ones sealed in their own plastic holder only need to be changed about once a year. The separate ones that may be included in the packet of bags you can give to someone with no dog, or post to me)

The Cat & Dog has a higher filtration level than the standard model.

That's the active carbon filter. You only have to replace that filter once a year. Replacements can be ordered from Miele online.

The filter behind the bag needs to be replaced with every new pack of bags. One is included to cut to size.

If your Miele came with the carbon or HEPA filter, you won't be able to use the standard air clean exhaust filter. They don't fit as it needs a different kind of holder to sit in.
