Slugs indoors - help!!!

We keep getting slugs indoors. Started off seeing one appearing in the kitchen every day or two which I assumed might be coming in from the cracks around our kitchen door to the outside (although it doenst appear to have any visible cracks).

But now we've spotted one in the living room and to my horror there are digusting silvery slime trails all around that corner of the living room and under the sofa, bleurgh!

Possible culprit in the living room could be the houseplant I repotted to a bigger pot recently and maybe they were already breeding in the new compost I used?

Anyway, we live in a new build so not sure how we're getting so many slugs, it's not a drafty old place with lots of cracks and crevices!

Help please! How to prevent further slimy visitors? And where the hell do they come from?

I have this problem too OP except in my conservatory. I still have no idea where they get in. The trails are everywhere so give me no clue!

We had this until we replaced our double glazed windows and patio doors. The window guy said the slugs got in through the gap in between the patio doors and the uneven floors. Once we got the double glazing done three years ago, the problem went away.

It's really unpleasant!

I once stood on a slug in my old kitchen with my bare feet. 15 years on and I can still feel it Confused

No advice apart from always wear shoes.

I had them in the kitchen and after googling I sprinkled some fresh ground coffee around the door. It has seemed to work as I've not had any since, it did make the house smell like Starbucks for a few days though.

Looseleaf · 31/03/2015 21:54

Oh that's interesting about the coffee. Ours come out every single night and then hide under the floor boards again.
For a while I harvested them every night at about 4am and threw them outside but they kept coming Grin

I was finding 2-3 every night, there was even one in the sink Coffee worked, honest. Did make the house smell though Blush

We had this problem...seeing silvery trails all over the living room carpet really grossed me out! There were half a dozen of the slimy buggers on the kitchen floor one night too, so glad I switched the light on for my midnight pee!!
We bought some slug pellets and sprinkled all around the outside of the house and then salt inside around air vent/gaps in walls/doors etc. So far so good..
