..or you will be sending a fine, invisible aerosol spray of faecal matter (etc!) high into the air, and it lands on your towels, toothbrushes () and in fact everything!

Saw it on TV the other night.. they used an ultra violet light to show up where the aerosol spray landed each time somebody flushed without shutting the lid. Blleeeuuughhhh...

I had read about this before so already shut the lid.. but am now making everyone obsessed about it..

Just imagine.... no.. don't! [puke emoticon]

Shiny - I am indeed very interested to know how to prevent myself and my family from getting stomach bugs. Don't get me wrong - I am not sneering at you. But I personally believe that our best chances of staying healthy involve a certain amount of exposure to everyday bugs thus allowing our immune system to be as strong as possible.

As for stomach bugs - I don't want to go into details, but there is a high possibility I can suppress the urge to vomit. Nevertheless, I still don't get many stomach bugs. The last one that went round the family made 3 out of my 4 children vomit and gave dh and I severe diarrhoea. It occurred over 2 years ago. My point being, I know when I get the bug, even if I don't vomit! but all this is beside the point. My first paragraph is my main argument.

I bet you use antibacterial sprays too don't you? Not a criticism (I use them too a bit) but another thing I know many scientists think we shouldn't be using as they take out too many ordinary bugs we need to be exposed to.

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 31/10/2006 18:13

I use that bluey green coloured Cif stuff... it smells nice.. not sure if it's antibacterial.. hang on will check..

Cif Oxygel. No it's not antibacterial... do I get a brownie point?

Don't dishcloths harbour more germs than a toilet anyway !

DumbledoresGirl · 31/10/2006 18:20

Is that the only cleaning product you use? Check the others first before I award the brownie point!

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 31/10/2006 18:25

I use the Cif stuff to spray the surfaces around daily, multi surface cleaner (Tesco own brand) to give the kitchen and bathroom a good scrub once a week. And bleach. That's it. I used to use antibac spray on high chairs years ago (Dettox) (because it said you should on the advert! ) but I too know about friendly bacteria and immune systems (comes of being mother of child with CF) so I stopped using it..

I still don't want to brush my teeth with poo particles...

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 31/10/2006 18:26

But you don't rub your teeth with your dishcloth presumably LIZS...

DumbledoresGirl · 31/10/2006 18:27

Yes but the dish cloth goes on dishes whcih you then eat off...

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 31/10/2006 18:54

Not in my house. I use those spongey things with green stuff on one side and I re use them because I wash them daily.
