apparently washing at 30 can save you about £150 a year leccy

and its greener

i have done 3 loads now and i would say they are washing well

When I bought my last washing machine the man in the shop said washing powders these days are designed to work best at 40 or below.

Did you put any stain remover on beforehad btw?

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 09:57

i do put a teaspoon of vanish in the drawer sometimes

think i did with the tom sauce

have to shop today so I'll have a look....it sounds good...

CountessDracula · 31/10/2006 10:03

I use persil (am allergic to all others!) and surcare for dd and wash most things on 30 with no probs

ludalooOOOOO · 31/10/2006 10:06

Oh...I use persil non bio capsules....never even thought to try it on a 30 wash.
My dd1 is allergic to most detergents but non bio's are normally ok (with a sensitive softener)

Tiggiwinkle · 31/10/2006 10:07

I think Ariel say you can use all their products at 30 (powders as well as tablets, and all varieties)

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 10:08

i used to use the capsules

one day i was in the kitchen and smelt burning

looked inside the machine and dh's shirts were on fire!

washing machine repair man said the capsule and the liquid inside hadnt dissolved properly and had blocked the water pipe, therefore the machine was heating up but no water to heat sothe shirts went on fire

!

ludalooOOOOO · 31/10/2006 10:12

Oh my god!! On fire!!!

ooohhhh I didn't know they could be such a risk!!!

sorry...that is slightly amusing for some reason!

Blimey I will have to watch out for non disolved bits!!!

nailpolish · 31/10/2006 10:15

its funny now

flames leaping around in the drum...

trying to get the door open...door has a time delay and that was the longest 30 secs of my life

OP posts:
ludalooOOOOO · 31/10/2006 10:20

good grief last place you expect to find fire too!!!!

peegeeweegeeWITCH · 31/10/2006 10:26

at the fire!!!

Is it just the Ariel 30 range that washes well at 30 is it a clever marketing ploy by Ariel?? (sorry, am a bit cynical...)

I use ecover at the bottle states for use at 30, 40 and 60 degree washes.
I have to confess, I only ever wash on 40, but am all for saving money (and the environment) so will switch to 30 as of my next load!!

katiebirdie · 31/10/2006 21:37

wash at 30 always and have never had any problems (use non bio powder). nothing ever gets stained really tbh. only stain is baby poo which comes out vv easily.

NothingButAttitudeOnMN · 31/10/2006 21:42

Mum told me today that she is washing everything at 30 now and is having no problems at all, and she is a real stickler for clean clean washing.

auntzubba · 01/11/2006 19:18

have been unsure about 30 wash- does it realy get muck out of shirt collars? dh is awful
