Granite vs Silestone: kitchen worktops?!

I was always going to choose granite...but then I saw Silestone in a shop, and the lady told me they have a much wider selection of paler colours than granite. She said it is man made, but from what I can see online it is quartz?

What are people's recommendations? I know I want something like granite or quartz, and not wood, but is it silly going for a man made substance over something natural?

If I wanted a pale worktop I'd go for Quartz (but not Silestone, it's over priced) because it won't stain as easily as pale granite.

I'd stick with granite if going for something dark, it justs feels nicer.

Thanks - very helpful. I'll have a look at some Quartz then...

I have Silestone and I love it. Didn't want granite as it can stain and crack. mine is a dull black, not high shine like granite. I always use silicon trivets but it's otherwise bombproof.
