White marks over washing?

Does anyone have any idea what is happening to my washing? I am getting white marks randomly over my washing, at first I thought it was powder residue but I have re washed all affected clothes and the marks are still in the same place. The washing machine is 11 years old and has started making a noise as if the bearings are going and the washing is a lot wetter than it used to be when it finishes. I'm going to have to get a new machine aren't I? Hmm Ps powder is Persil non-bio, half way though a big box.

I still think it is powder.

What temperature are you washing at? If you touch the glass window during a wash, can you tell that it is getting hot enough?

If you are in a hard water area, you can add some washing soda crystals, which help dissolve the powder.

If the drum bearings are wearing out, there will come a time when specks of black grease and metal swarf contaminate your washing, which will be very sad and may spoil your clothes, so try to change it before that happens.

Chalky deposits? Get a washing machine de scaler?

Sometimes the zeolites in the detergent can cause this, we had this problem with our Miele, but it was also powder build up that added to the problem.

Try doing an extra rinse if your machine has that function.
I had the same problem and it was powder residue.

Thank for replies. I'll try giving the machine a hot wash to remove any powder residue and check it gets hot and go from there.
