What is the Mumsnet view on ceramic coated pans, vs teflon vs non-stick?

I need to buy a new one. What's with this new-fangled ceramic business? Do any of you have not non-stick that actually cooks well but isn't one of those hideously heavy and expensive Le Creuset things?

Ceramic are a million times better than Teflon. They tend not to flake or
Scratch :)

This range is the best non-stck I've ever encountered

Food just slides off.

I have a ceramic pan. No complaints so far.

Well timed thread. Our Teflon frying pan is sticking and it is only 6 months old. Watching with interest.

Well this is the thing Trapper. I have had several teflon pans over the years, some v. expensive some cheap and there really doesn't that much difference. The dearer ones last a bit longer, but not that much longer really.

My John Lewis ones are 5 year old and still lovely. I scratched the bottom of one a bit (metal utensils, v naughty) and it doesn't really seem to have made a difference.

They may die next year, or they may go on for another 5 or another 15, I don't know.
