Hello - this is my first post after some time browsing the threads and taking advantage of all the fab advice! I'm really struggling to find a really good cleaner in the Teddington area. Ive had one currently only for two weeks but I'm not sure it's working out! It's the first time I've had a cleaner, so I'm not sure exactly what to expect, but she came for the second time yesterday for two hours, and when I came home I couldn't really tell that she had been in (I have a little two bed flat). The first time she came she scratched all of the chrome fittings in our brand new shower cleaning it with a pan scourer :( and she was 45 mins late, meaning I was an hour late to work. The second time (yesterday) she called at 9am saying she wanted to come at 9.15am rather than 3pm and then hung up on me when I asked if we could please stick to the original time as I had sillily managed to lock myself out that morning and was hoping she could let me back in if I got back for when she was finishing at 5pm. In the end I agreed for her to come early and leave the keys for me under the mat which I really didn't want to have to do (anxious about safety!)

At the moment I'm thinking of going back to doing it myself, as the current set up is making things a lot
more rather than less stressful, and the house still isn't all that clean so I'm having to go over it again myself anyway. But I'd be super grateful if anyone has any personal recommendations for a cleaner they use that they have been really happy with! I was (maybe naively) looking for someone with a bit of a wow factor, making it a pleasure to come home!

She sounds shit and unprofessional - get rid of her!

Try asking on FB if no one on MN can recommend someone.

Hi there Smile,
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles.. I've experienced the same issues in the past, plus I've got my brand new (and super expensive) sofa ruined by an amateur house cleaner Angry..

It is why I decided to use a cleaning company and spare myself all the trouble. It might be just a bit more expensive but it's definitely worth it. You can have the same cleaner coming in - the one you feel comfortable with and who knows and follows your priorities. If there is a problem by any chance, you have customer support to turn to and they'll address the issiue. Plus, you'll have a professional cleaning your house on the basis you choose, and not someone who has suddenly decided to earn some extra cash by cleaning houses (and ruining people's items in the process). This is the company I use, to clean my house on a weekly basis - Cleaners Teddington. I am pleased with their cleaning services, so I advise you to give them a call.
Good luck! Smile

Samjo is right OP, cleaning services are expensive so why settle for substandard ones when good ones are around!
