Dyson not picking up

icelollycraving · 19/03/2015 19:50

I have a dyson dc40. It seems to not be sucking up on the carpeted floors, tiles are fine, the tool bit works. I have taken it apart, can't see any blockages. I've washed the filters & the canister thing where the grot goes. When I vacuum,I can see lint going in the canister thing but I can feel it's not feeling very sucky. Any advice gratefully received!

If it's less than 5 years old dyson engineer will fix for free Grin

Have you checked the belts?? Mine doesn't suck when these have snapped. Look at the bottom, the black belt should be tight.

Will they? Didn't know that, will have to dig out the receipt.
I'll check out the belts.

Belts are a PITA to change by the way as they are really tight. You can pick up dyson equivalent belts from your local market for a few pounds though.

Agree it's likely to be the belts. Sometimes mine slips off and as soon as it's put back it works well again.

Ok I've taken it apart & can't even see a belt!

Called them & they are sending a dyson man. So 10 days of using all the tools.
