washing up after cutting raw chicken

ok so you are cooking dinner and have a knife, chopping board etc with raw chicken juice on.

do you chuck it in the bowl with the rest of the washing up? disinfect it? what? toddler and baby both demanding attention so don't have time for much immediate action.

Nope, wash in sink all separately and then anti bac the board and worktop.

I think in a rush I'd have the sink empty and use anti bac wipe in the first instance on worktop.

I wash it alone with hot soapy sponge and running water. Then antiback spray the sides.

I've survived 20 years washing up knife and board in same bowl (of v hot water and fairy tbf) and not been ill yet. And I've got pathetic insides of fluff.

I'd either leave it on the side next to the sink to wash up later, or bung it in the washing up bowl to wash up later.
Washing done in bowl in hot water and rinsed under running hot tap.
All items washed in same bowl no matter what they are.

And I don't anti-bac anything unless I'm doing my weekly kitchen clean.

I use scissors to cut raw chicken. I wash everything it has touched separately but it goes in the dishwasher after. The sink, taps, work top etc all get anti bac'ed and wiped over with kitchen roll.

Rollermum · 16/03/2015 20:48

I would wash in same bowl but always in hygiene order. So toddler stuff first. Finish with panes, chicken board and knife but would add extra bit of washing up liquid to the sponge and rinse in v hot water.

I usually pour boling water over any utensils that have come into contact with raw chicken, then put them in the dishwasher.

Do everything else first then those things last & rinse with hot water. Sink & surfaces get washed down / anti bac'd as usual, chopping board washed as above then sprayed with anti bac & left to air dry.
