Some of mine are dated 2012. Bin or keep?

keep. 2012 is nothing in this house when it comes to herbs and spices Blush .

They don't go off as in become unsafe to use, but they do lose some flavour over time, especially if the jar has been opened. Things like crushed chillis, whole cloves, whole cardamoms probably last forever.

No. They just lose flavour. Spices like ground coriander that are years old just taste of dust. Give them a good sniff. If they don't smell of anything just bin them as they won't add anything to your food.

Be careful of weevils.

Will keep my eye out Mrs M.
I found a 2009 and binned that as I had a 2012 one the same Wink
Opened garam binned as the lid wasn't shut properly. The rest dusted off and put back Grin

Be careful and don't do what I did. I gradually added more and more out of date ground cloves to a muffin recipe until I ended up adding about 2tbsp to get some flavour into it. Then you buy a new tub and add the same amount - wham! Sinuses cleared for life Grin
