My washing machine smells as though something has died in it while eating an onion. Why would this be and what can I do? we inherited it when we bought the house and it is quite old. Also i use washable nappies, but the smell isn't poo. Sorry. This is vile. Apologies but advice welcome!

where was your blockage - in the sink plumbing or the washing machine plumbing???

PumpkinMilkshake · 29/10/2006 08:16

The blockage was in the waste pipe from the washing machine which feeds into the same large waste pipe for the rest of the house, and it was at the bottom of WM pipe that the blockage occured.

sorry for delay. this may be part of the problem, i can't leave it open as it's in the kitchen and my 17 month old boy loves playing with the door so it stays closed to put him off.

Leave the door open anyway, he'll get bored of it quicker.

u can always open the door at night and close it in the day to help!
