Sad question but how often and how do you wash them - did a search but couldnt find anything - am sure mine are all full of germs - yuck

Don't use them! I use antibacterial spray and kitchen roll.

Pollybloodyanna · 27/10/2006 13:19

Putting them in the dishwasher if you have one is good I think.

agree with magnolia

PinkTulips · 27/10/2006 13:20

as soon as they get ooky they go in the basin next to the washing machine to be washed...... i have an embarrassing amount of tea towels and cloths so even though i go through a couple a day they just get washed once a week

Zippetydoodahzippetyday · 27/10/2006 13:22

You are supposed to change them every day but I certainly don't!!! After about 3 days I usually soak them in bleach and water overnight and sometimes throw them in the washing machine with the tea towels.

Mine are the ones with the holes in. Recommended by Kim and Aggie

zippitippitoes · 27/10/2006 13:23

I used to boil them with washing powder in a saucepan..brings the pan up nice

peegeeweegeeWITCH · 27/10/2006 13:40

I go through two a day, and wash them in the washing machine on a 60 degree wash....

taramac · 27/10/2006 16:24

Which ones are recommended by Kim and Aggie? I have the basic white cloths - must buy more then and just start washing them once a week - thanks

I use at least two a day and wash them in the washing machine with tea towels. I have a 'thing' about dish clothes and can detect one that's getting whiffy at 100 paces!

taramac · 27/10/2006 16:27

I am horrified at how dirty mine must be - bleach them sporadically and certainly dont change my tea towels enough either - new resolution - to use one or two of each a day then keep them in a tub and wash once a week!

Chuck them in the wash at least every few days - often once a day. Hate the pong and slimey feel of wringing out one that's been on the go too long.

I pop mine in the dishwasher everynight

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:14

use e-cloths and those cloths on a roll

stuff them in the washer straight after use

Cappuccino · 27/10/2006 17:15

I mean I don't wash them straightaway

they wait till I've a load of washing in

didn't know you were supposed to wash dishcloths!

don't they get washed when you do the washing up? just rinse mine in v hot water after washing up, then bleach them over night about, ooh, twicw a week?

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 27/10/2006 18:18

Yuck I don't have them. I use a scrubbing brush for dishes and little rags for wiping and cleaning, plus teatowels mainly for wiping my hands. They go in a mini bin on the counter and emptied into the wash with the nappies every other day. Don't know if I'll be so disciplined when we stop using nappies though , can't imagine doing that many 60degree washes otherwise.

sahmtotwo · 27/10/2006 21:28

I put mine in the washing basket every night and use a clean one every day though if one gets espescially dirty then will use 2 or more a day. Just started to change the teatowel everyday as the dishwasher isn't working atm, but when it is will probably go back to 2 a week. Good idea about putting them in the dishwasher, when mines sorted I think I will try that. I use the white dishclothes as well.

Toothyboy · 27/10/2006 21:35

I get through a couple a day, using them for bits of washing up, wiping surfaces and sticky fingerprints etc. Then just chuck them in the washing machine to be washed with whatever the next load is.

I use the white, ribbed ones with blue edging and buy a new pack of 6 every couple of months.

Skyler · 27/10/2006 21:43

OMG I am a slattern. I use J cloths and use them for a week then bin them. No bleaching or anything in between. They get hot rinses and I wipe the surfaces with anti bac spray.....

sahmtotwo · 27/10/2006 21:49

I used to use the j cloth thingies but I am trying to slowly turn us a little more enviromently friendly so just by 9 white cloths from Wilkinsons for 99p (I think!! if not they are not much more.)

sahmtotwo · 27/10/2006 21:51

sorry meant meant 6 clothes
