Steam cleaner cloth head

Does anyone know about steam cleaners? We recently bought a Bissell one as it was on offer in Argos. I used the upholstery attachment to clean some carpets and it has worked wonders but the cloth head thing (that you stretch over the plastic attachment) is now utterly manky with dirt and cat hair.

Are you supposed to wash them and if so how? Sorry if this is an insanely stupid question. The inside of it seems quite flaky and fluffy and I don't think it would fare well in a washing machine.

I feel a bit clueless as it's probably really obvious but I don't know if I'm supposed to machine wash, hand wash or chuck and replace. Thank you...

Do you still have the instruction manual? If not look it up on the web as I'm sure that will tell you. There are probably washing instructions on a label inside the cloth.

Mine go in wash (think they're some kind of fleece/microfibre). I also bought replacements from amazon for not very much £.

You could let it dry and then Hoover off the cat hair before washing it. Or hand wash quickly to remove the hair, then machine wash with no danger of the hair clogging up the machine. I only have a floor mop but the cloths seem to wash fine. They are nowhere near as white as when new, but still do the job.

Thanks all! Was afraid of ruining it.
