Good carpet cleaners

We hae had someone over to clean the bedroom carpets...doesn't seem like the cleaner was very good.Can anyone recommend a way of cleaning lcarpets or any good products?

I hired one from Johnsons dry cleaners - it was amazing. It's from 'the rug doctor' company IIRC. Hiring it again before Christmas, was so impressed with it. 30 quid to hire plus a refundable deposit - then about 5 quid for the cleaning fluid I think.
