Our kids like a light on overnight. Can you suggest anything? Preferably to cut the electric bill! X

low-wattage energy saver (CFL) in a table lamp. The low-power ones are often candle lamps or golfballs, but as long as they have an ordinary bayonet cap (BC or B22) will fit an ordinary lamp.

SBC (small bayonet cap) and SES (small Edison Screw) are for special small lampholders.

5Watt will be adequate for a night light. If you can put a table lamp outside their bedroom door it will be easier to wean them off it. I have heard it said that children whose bedroom are kept light tend to get short-sighted.

LEDs are more expensive to buy, and will be cheaper next year, so not a good investment.

For example this or this but you will find them in your supermarket
